Poops, he did it again

Ξ August 22nd, 2008 | → 5 Comments | ∇ General |

When Gavin was a week old I was changing his diaper before he ate (around 7 am) and he had a blow out while i was changing him.  It went all over me, mike and our bed.  Well, this morning it happened again.  Luckily it was after I fed him so he wasn’t crying cause he was hungry.  It also managed to stay on me and my side of the bed.  It surprised me because the diaper I was changing he had just filled and it was a lot. Then what came out and all over me was a lot.  I don’t know if he was just backed up or what.  He has been kind of gassy, so maybe.  So, I got him all cleaned up with wipes, gave him to Mike and took a shower then gave him a bath.  Oh, the joys of motherhood!!  I’m getting more used to it though, it didn’t really gross me out this time. ;)

Bill and Teresa Hartsell came down from Oregon for a dental continued learnig thing at BYU.  Teresa was on of Mike’s girls fron an apartment of girls in Oklahoma.  There were 4 girls total that he hung out with from this apt.  Since they were all in the same University branch Bobby Kinser, Laura Kinser, Ryan Sellers, and Heather were all friends back in OK.  We were ableto get most of us together ob Saturday for lunch at Los Hermanos.  It was great meeting Bill and Teresa.  Once Teresa blogs about it I’ll post more pics, but here is one I took.

Volleyball is starting!

Ξ August 21st, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

So, school is back in session which means high school volleyball is starting!  Our friend Natalie is the head coach for Orem High Schools girls’ volleyball team.  We became part of the “goon squad” last year and went to almost every game.  We love being there to support Nat and Tracey (asst coach) and have come to really enjoy all the players as well.  We went to the first day of try outs to help out and also the first day of practice.  We’ll keep you updated on how the girls do this season.  Oh, and Gavin is now their mascot. :)   We plan to make him a onezie when the girls make their shirts for the season.

He’s getting big so fast

Ξ August 21st, 2008 | → 3 Comments | ∇ General |

Gavin is getting so big so fast.  He’s such a joy in our lives.  He makes the funniest faces and noises.  He’s a little grunter.  He’s been grunting since we brought him home. He’s starting to get a little meat on his bones as well.  He’s had a pretty bad case of baby acne.  It doesn’t help that we have a swamp cooler.  It works pretty good, but it’s still can be pretty warm at times.  His skin hasn’t gotten so dry that his cheeks and chin are peeling now.  I called our pediatrician’s office and a nurse told me i could put baby aveeno or eucerin lotion on it twice a day to help with the dryness.  It’s pretty bad.  He’s still super cute though.  He’s been smiling and more than just in his sleep for a few weeks now.  But last week he started smiling with his eyes too.  It’s so cute when he smiles so big at us.  Yesterday he cooed at Mike and this morning he cooed at me.  He’s “talked” a few times today.  It’s so fun to have him at these new stages.  I’ve even noticed that his cry is changing.  He’s still little but is growing out of being a newborn.  He has a very cute goat cry that we love even though we don’t like to hear it often cause we don’t want him crying.  I’m scared it’s going to be gone soon though.  Here are some pics of our growing boy.

Our cute son!

So, Mike and I are thoroughly enjoying being parents.  It’s not always easy on the sleeping part, but it’s sooooo worth it.  Gavin has been so worth the wait.

I love watching Mike and Gavin together.  Mike is a GREAT dad and you can see how much he loves his son and vice versa!!

Gavin is so strong with his neck already.  I need to see what angles Aunt Mimi got since she was on the other side and he was facing that way more.

Our first family picture since the hospital.  ( i don’t think the intro to Twitch counted)

Isn’t he a stud???

Tummy Time!  Look at the arch in his back.

Taking a nap in his swing.  I can usually leave him in here while I shower and get a little time to myself.

Gavin in his bed.  Doesn’t love to take naps in here, but sleeps for about 4 hours at night, wakes to eat then sleeps for another 2 hours.

Dad helping Gavin use the muscles in his feet and toes.  Mike will have him grab his thumbs with his toes then massage the from part of his toes to have Gav flex his toes.

Work Party

Ξ August 4th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

Mike’s work, NovaRad, had their work party on Friday.  They had it in a park and had big blow ups for the kids and some games for the adults too; tug of war and water ballons.  They bbq pork sandwhiches that were really yummy.  Mike had a lot of fun harassing his co-workers with the water balloons and then with a bottle he filled up with cold water from the ice cooler.  I, of course, am not in any pictures since I took them all and Mike was too busy getting people wet and helping clean up.  Mike works at the same company as our bro-in-law Joel so it was fun to hand out with the family as well as with other co-workers that are friends like Aaron and Jessica Sellers and Bob and Candy Kinser.  Gavin did a good job too, he slept for most of it.  :)   And Aunt Netty got to hold him for about an hour and a half.  Mike may add more to this later if he wants to add his take on the party …

2 week appt

Ξ August 4th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

So, last week on the 29th Gavin had his two week appointment.  He’s grown quite a bit.  Guess he’s getting enough to eat.  That makes Mom and Dad feel good!!  He weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and was 21 1/2 inches long.  (the pic shows 8 lbs 8 oz but they take 4 oz off for diaper and clothes)  He grew and inch and a half since he was born.  He also gained a pound since he left the hospital.  Gavin did really good and was fine while the doctor checked him out.  He had to get his second PKU done and it was sad but so cute.  They pricked his heel and for a second I thought he was going to be ok.  But then after a few seconds he realized he’d been “hurt” and cried.  He has the cutest little goat cry, but it still breaks our hearts when he uses it.  Unfortunately he had to get pricked twice.  They only had one circle left but his first prick just wouldn’t bleed quite enough.  Poor kid!  Daddy (and mommy) were there to hold him and comfort him though and he was ok.  Here are some pics from his visit.
