Gavin is SIX months old

Ξ January 23rd, 2009 | → 3 Comments | ∇ General |

Can you believe it??  Gavin is 6 months old.  He is getting so big and he is SO cute and is just a really good baby.  At his check up he was 28 3/4 inches tall, 17 1/2 lbs, and his head is 43 1/2 cm.  Percentiles are: >97, 50, and 25-50.  So he’s long and skinny, like his daddy.  Gavin sits on his own, although he still topples over if he loses his balance, he rolls over, and is eating rice cereal.  He loves to jump.  He loves to pull on his daddy’s goatee and sweatshirt strings.  He loves his mommy.  He sings beautifully.  He loves to observe EVERYTHING, especially his crazy cousins.  He loves seeing his grandma when she watches him.  He is a stinker (in a good way)!  He is LOVED by his mommy and his daddy!!!!  He is such a joy to all around him.  We are truly blessed to have him as our son.

Second Cousins

Ξ January 23rd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

We drove home from Arizona through Vegas because the weather was more sketchy the way we normally go.  We spent the night at my cousin and wife’s home, Carl and Megan.  They have a little boy, Aidan, who is 10 days younger than Gavin.  It was fun to see these two together.  The 5 star air mattress was great and we hope to stay with them again and get to know them better!  Gavin and Aidan seemed to have fun together.

Tucson visit

Ξ January 23rd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

Mike and I had not been to Tucson since 2001 and wanted to show Gavin off to the Black side of the family.  They created and made with lots of family members help a beautiful blanket for Gavin and we wanted to say thank you.  Cleo and Marty were kind enough to open up their home to us and they all prepared a great meal for us and we got to catch up.  It was a GREAT visit and we want to make it back down there again.  Once again thanks for the great company and the yummy food!

Nathan to the Temple

Ξ January 23rd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

The reason for our road trip was that Nathan received his endowments in the Mesa, Arizona Temple.  He wanted to carry-on the so far tradition.  All immediate family members; Nick, Karen, Jay, and Nicole had all received theirs in this Temple.  Even Mike received his there.  It was a good trip and it was GREAT to be in the Temple again.  We hadn’t been since a few weeks before Gavin was born and I hadn’t been in the Mesa Temple since I received my own endowments 8 years previously.  Allen was great and watched Gavin for the first time so both Mike and I could participate in the event.  I am so grateful for the blessings of the Temple and that I get to be with my family, especially Mike and our son forever!

Gavin’s First Road Trip

Ξ January 22nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

Gavin went on his first road trip.  On the trip he had a lot of firsts.  He stayed in his first hotel, he rolled over (on purpose) for the first time, he started walking with help from Mike, he drove in the car for a long time, and his first REALLY scary drive.  Here are some pics and videos of those firsts!

Gavin’s First Christmas!!!

Ξ January 22nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

We were so excited for Christmas this year as it was Gavin’s first.  He didn’t really get what was going on, but he did help us open a few presents.  We did our own family thing at our house and went through our stockings and Gavin opened his gifts from Santa.  We went down to Springville and opened gifts withthe cousins and Aunts and Uncle.  Emily and Steve got there a little later.  We got to see Grams and Papa and all the Okies on the web cam.   Next we went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  Gavin slept while everyone opened their gifts.  When he woke up everyone watched him “open” his presents.  Nicole’s camera died while the adults opened theirs so she still needs to get pics from Nathan that he took on his phone.  Christmaswas kind of crazy at the Eyring’s because they had a pipe break and that took time to do a temporary fix.  After leaving the Eyring’s we went to Emily and Steve’s to open a few presents cause we didn’t have time to do it down at the Lyon’s house.  All in all it was a great Christmas and we can’t wait until the next one when Gavin can participate even more!!
