My poor little boy has had his first really big owie.   Gavin’s cousins have been really good and playing with him lots.  Lauren was playing with him in the toy room and did a good job at putting him at the back of the bed by the wall so he wouldn’t fall off.  She forgot that he is very mobile and very fast and that he could move sideways and not just to the front.  So he took a head dive off the bed.  It was so sad to hear his cry, it broke my heart.  I didn’t cry though.  I was too worried about Gavin and Lauren.  I did tear up some a few times though.  Anywho, we think he hit a few things on the fall and then landed on some kind of lego because after about 10 min or so an indentationsstarted to show on his forehead.  He was a trooper and seemed to start feeling more like himself pretty quickly. Thanks to Grams for giving him some sweet hugs to help him feel better!

We’re in trouble

Gavin started climbing the stairs today at Aunt Netty’s house.  He also stood up on his own for 7-10 seconds.  His daddy, mommy, grams, aunt netty and aunt steph got to see him do it.  It was the longest to date.  He’d done it for grandma earlier in the day for about 5 seconds.  Crazy how fast he’s growing!

9 months old

Gavin is now 9 months old.  He is getting so big!  It’s so crazy how fast it’s gone.  He is so smart and so sweet.  Even when he’s being a “stinker” we love him to pieces.  He is doing so many things.  He has his own version of crawling.  He sits on his bum and leans forward, scoots one leg forward and starts the process over again.  He definitely gets to where he wants to go and he’s getting pretty quick too.  He loves to walk!  He holds hands and goes everywhere.  He can pull himself to standing and cruise along the furniture all by himself.  He says “dadadadadada” a lot.  He only says mama when he’s upset.  He’s been doing the p and b sounds too.  We’re trying to get him to do “papa” so he can say it when Papa comes next week.  He can stand for a few seconds on his own if he’s in the mood too.  He can pick up toast and feed himself.  At his dr appointment he was 30 1/2 in (97%), 19lbs 4 oz (27%), and head is 44 1/4 cm (25%).  So he’s still tall and skinny!  He has eczema (dry skin) and scratches all the time.  So, we need to be even more diligent than we’ve been on getting the lotion on him.  2-3 times a day not just one.  How fun since he’s decided he does not like lying down to get his diaper changed.  All in all the last nine months have had some challenges but we wouldn’t change it for ANYTHING!!!  We LOVE having Gavin in our family. 

Easter – Gavin’s First and Nathan’s “last”

We had a great Easter.  Gavin didn’t really “get it” yet but we had fun doing stuff with him.  In my family growing up we asked the Easter bunny to come on Saturday morning so we can do the egg hunt and get candy and stuff that day and save Sunday for for the REAL meaning behind it, our brother and Savior, Jesus Christ. 

So, it was Gavin’s first Easter and as I wrote in the title Nathan’s last before he goes on his mission.  Since we all wanted to do the egg hunt together we went over to Grandma and Grandpa’s at 7 am!!!  Wasn’t so happy about that, and we were a little grumpy but it was still fun.  Gavin helped me find eggs.  (my brothers were probably glad because i usually kick behind every year, it’s pretty funny how competitive we get)  We had egg “nick”muffins and then went home for Gavin to have a nap.  When he woke up he walked into the family room to get his Easter stuff that was at our place. 

Sunday we went to my parents Stake Conference.  Elder Richard G. Scott was the visiting apostle and he gave a great message about family and our Savior.  It’s harder to pay attention with Gavin, but it was good.  We had dinner at the Eyring’s.  We went on a walk and fed the ducks too.  It was a nice first Easter with Gavin!

WICKED!!

My mom is super and she somehow found 2 tickets to ‘Wicked‘ even though we thought they were all sold out.  She was nice enough to let me buy one and gave Nathan the other.  I got to go on one last “date” with my baby brother before he leaves on his mission.  It was a blast.  Our tickets were on the last row down stairs, but the Theatre is small enough that it didn’t really matter and could still see great.  We had the stand in for Elphaba and she did a GREAT job.  Glinda was pretty good.  Fiyero was really good, but not as strong of a voice as I imagine.  Did not like Boq.  The sound seemed like they were still getting some kinks out as well.  But really overall it was an awesome experience.  I LOVED it and want to go again.  Someday I’ll get really good seats to go and see it.  Thanks Mom for letting me have one of the tickets and for watching Gavin!!!!!

Annual Girl’s Night 2009

We had our annual Girl’s Night for my friends from ward/high school.  We get together every April Conference to catch up.  This is the first year we all had kids.  Instead of going to Brick Oven we ordered in so we could show off our kiddos.  It was a blast!  I need to get the pics the other gals took as well, but here are some I took.  I wish we could get together more often but at least we make the effort to do it once a year.  Thanks to Rachel for opening up her house to us and all the kids.  The kids now out number us gals!

Gavin loves to be outside.  If I walk by the door to go from the kitchen to the family room his head turns to the door every time.  I caved in and took him outside even though it was cold.  He also loves his baths.  I was making cookies for Girl’s Night and Gavin wanted to play in the water and needed a bath.  So they could be in with me Mike cleaned the sink and had Gavin take a bath in the sink.  He enjoyed it so much. 

Sporting Events

Gavin went to two sporting events in the same week.  The Utah Valley Thunder Arena Football and the BYU Men’s Volleyball.  Gavin must be good luck because both teams won, BYU beating the #1 team in the nation!  He did great at both events.  His favorite part of the football game was half time when the UVU dancers came out and danced.  He was enthralled and jabbered up a storm.  He is such a BOY!!!!!

Rock Star Party

Our neice had a Rock Star birthday party.  It was tons of fun.  The adults got into it as much if not more than the girls.  Most of us are wanna be rockers, but Steph is the real thing.  We got tattos, got our nails done, dressed in “rock” clothes, got our hair done, and of course make up.  And then they played RockBand.  Gavin is our little rocker.  He was just the cutest thing.  I’m soooo totally biased, but I think you may just agree after you see these pics.  He even does the Uncle Brent snarl!!
